The beginning of 14-day Virginia Chunk Sweet Pickles: Haven't made these in a while but they are very tasty although labor intensive. Had a few leftover cute-cumbers (as the girls used to call them) to make bread & butter pickles also but can't find Grandma's recipe. Still looking.
Valley View Farm has the sweetest watermelon & cantelope: Marietta Farmer's Market with Joan:
Marietta Farmer's Market:
Joan and I had a great morning at the farmer's market then going to a stand in front of a working farm. The produce was fresh and very tasty. We got corn, cucumbers, tomatoes and other things.
Sister Daw is being transferred to Buena Vista, VA tomorrow. Sure will miss her. They have been a three-some for six weeks and I've had the opportunity to go on splits with them several times and have really enjoyed it.
Sunday I received two callings and neither one in Primary! :-( One is the chorister in Relief Society. The other is the ward librarian which I have never done before and actually quite excited to start.
Dad, Joan, Kara at the deck by the river: Amy and Julia:
Roasting s'marshmallows for s'mores: Cook-out with the family then at Kara's suggestion, we started a bonfire and roasted marshmallows. After everyone left, I stayed down by the river and watched the sun set then the moon rise. Lovely.
lots and lots of blackberries: Amy and I went pickin' in Bill DeQuasie's patch. Probably shouldn't have worn my white jeans...Looking forward to jam, jelly, blackberry cobbler, berries on top of cheesecake etc. I've already made 2 pies. Yummmm.
