National Labor College

Sunday, September 19, 2010

The OSHA training class last week was great and the campus was wonderful; it used to be a monastary. I stayed in a nice room on campus.

Arlington

Due to traffic, I got there half hour after the gates had closed. The guards turned me away, then seeing my placard, waved me on through with "just for a few minutes". I was so grateful I was able to visit Max's grave.

Cat fishin on the Muskingum River

Monday, September 6, 2010

This island isn't always there when it's been raining a lot. Just watched a truck go through the river. The fishing must be really good.

Spider info

This is the spider outside my window each morning: yellow garden orb weaver spider. It's big for a spider: about 2 inches. Needless to say, I brushed the web out of the way this morning before sticking my head out and saying hello to the birds.

Labor Day weekend

Saturday, September 4, 2010

Lots of boat traffic on the river today. Sternwheelers arriving early for the sternwheel festival next weekend. It was interesting watching them go through the locks.

Morning routine

One of the first things I do when I get out of bed is throw open my window, stick my head out and take a deep breath of fresh air. This morning, to my surprise, a big yellow & black spider had made a giant web right across my window. Got a face-full of web also stuck in my hair.

Dog days of summer

The air conditioner stopped working and it's been 82 degrees inside the house, too hot to sleep so I've been cooling down on my outside screened in porch. It's just like camping without the bugs.
